Liverpool, the season’s champion, concluded their home games
in the Premier League this season, achieving a great result in
a match that saw 8 goals, on Wednesday.
Liverpool beat Chelsea 5-3 in the 37th round, before the last,
to ensure that the Premier League title is celebrated in a
wonderful way at home.
The champion celebrated receiving the English Premier League
award at a thrilling summit with goals to end the season without
any defeat at home in the competition.
Napi Keita opened the scoring with a great shot, and Trent
Alexander-Arnold doubled the lead from a free kick, then
Jorginho Vinaldam turned the score to 3-0 with a powerful
shot from close range, before Olivier Giroud narrowed
the lead before the break.
Roberto Firmino restored the difference to three goals in the
55th minute, but Chelsea threatened the champion with an
exciting uprising after scoring two consecutive goals through
Tammy Abraham and Christian Polisic.
But Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain secured the victory for the
hospitality team by scoring the fifth goal.
The result means Liverpool have won 18 times in a total of
19 games at home this season and only drew 1-1 with Burnley
earlier this month. He raised his score to 96 points, one point
short of his record last season, when he took the runner-up.
With Chelsea losing, his tally stopped at 63 points, and he still
needs a point to reserve a Champions League qualifying seat,
as he fell to fourth place earlier today after Manchester United
tied 1-1 with West Ham United.
