The French Football League announced, on Tuesday, the
postponement of the opening match between Olympique de
Marseille and Saint-Etienne from Friday to 16 or 17 September
, due to the detection of new infections with the Corona virus.
Marseille announced the presence of 3 new positive cases of
“Covid 19” among its ranks, bringing the total number to 4 in
3 days before the start of the competition.
Of the five major leagues in Europe, France was the only one to
decide to end the season early due to the pandemic, and Paris
Saint-Germain crowned champions.
Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyon reached the Champions
League semi-finals, the first time that two teams from France
reached this role, knowing that Olympique de Marseille is the
only French club to win this title.
France has recorded more than 219,000 cases of the emerging
coronavirus, including 30,429 deaths.
