The Sports Arbitration Court confirmed, on
Wednesday, that Manchester City, the Premier
League soccer champions, lodged an appeal
against a penalty preventing him from participating
in European competitions for two years.
The highest sports court said that Manchester City
appealed to the decision taken by the UEFA
Financial Supervision Committee.
The sports arbitration court indicated that it was not
possible to set a date for the final decision on the
appeal, according to “Reuters”.
The city was punished by “UEFA”, on February 14,
by denying European competitions for two years,
with a fine of 30 million euros (32.60 million dollars)
for what he described as “violations” of the rules of
fair financial play.
And if the penalty is applied, City will not be able to
participate in the Champions League in the 2020-
2021 season if he qualifies for the largest club
tournaments on the continent, However, he will also miss
European competitions in 2021-2022.
