Argentine soccer legend Diego Armando Maradona has
revealed his wish that he wants to see Barcelona captain
Lionel Messi as a player in his old club Napoli, but he
will not be able to repeat what he did at the club in
southern Italy.
Barcelona was a guest of Napoli, on Tuesday, in the first
leg of the Champions League round sixteen, and the
match ended in a 1-1 draw.
“I enjoy watching Messi very much,” Maradona said in
his remarks. “He is a very skilled player and must
complete the glittering career.”
And Argentine legend said: “I wanted to face Messi, but
he came to play in San Paulo after the stadium
deteriorated.”
He continued: “Messi did not live what I went through,
but he can easily play with Napoli, but I think he will not
be able to do what I did, but I certainly would like if in
Naples there is a player of the type of Messi.”
For many in the world, Messi, crowned with the Golden
Ball during his career 6 times, is the legitimate heir to
Maradona on the throne of the ball in Argentina, and
indeed in the whole world.
Maradona played for Napoli for 7 years, starting in 1984,
to become the lover of the Italian south, and crowned
with Napoli with five titles, including the Italian League
(twice), the Italian Cup, the Italian Super Cup 1990 and
the European Football League.
It is noteworthy that Maradona had previously
supervised Messi’s training when he was technical
director of the Argentine national team in the 2010
World Cup in South Africa.
