French Lyon surprised its Italian Juventus guest with a
historic victory when they beat it 1-0 at the “Groupama
Stadium”, on Wednesday, in the first leg of the final
price of the Champions League in football.
Luca Tozer scored the only goal of the match in the 31st
minute to lead his team to its first victory over the Italian
league champion in the last eight years and crowned
twice the title of the ancient continental competition,
while the best result remains for the French team to reach
the four rounds of the 2009-2010 season.
The two teams will meet again, on March 17, at the
Allianz Stadium in Turin.
Leon imposed his preference in the first half and
translated it into a goal, while the “old lady” team
excelled in the second without his star and the goals of
the continental international competition, Cristiano
Ronaldo, managed to tie.
Leon Rudi Garcia’s coach pushed Brazilian newcomer
Bruno Guimaraes essential for the second time since
joining him from Atletico Paranaense.
On the other hand, Juventus coach Mauricio Sari chose
to push French midfielder Adrian Rabio at the expense of
fellow Blaise Matuidi in his third key match in the “Old
Lady” squad, and Argentine Gonzalo Higuain sat on the
bench like Federico Bernardeschi.
Cameroonian Carl Toko Ikampi, loaned by Villarreal,
opened the score with a header from close range after a
corner kick, but the ball hit the cross (21), and the
Dutchman, Matisse de Licht, crossed a cross in a
convenient time against Ikampi (23).
Juventus was the first attempt to strike Brazilian Alex
Sandro from outside the area over the crossbar (26), and
Lyon succeeded in opening the recording when the
Algerian-born Hossam Awar entered from the left side
and entered the area before passing a cross followed by
Unattended Tozer left on the right of goalkeeper
Wojciech Chicheny ( 31).
Moussa Dembele almost added the second goal with a
powerful right-hand shot from outside the area that
passed near the left post (34).
Ronaldo almost made it with a tricky shot with his right
from inside the region that passed near the far left post of
his compatriot Anthony Lopes (35).
Ikampi squandered the opportunity to reinforce when he
took advantage of Commander Leonardo Bonucci’s goal
to throw a ball at the edge of the area, kidnapped it,
penetrated inside it and shot it over the crossbar (41),
then tried his luck with a second shot from outside the
area over the crossbar a few centimeters (44), and a third
by Bruno Guimaraes in Chicheni’s hands (45) +2).
Juventus improved in the second half, taking advantage
of Lyon’s retreat to defense, and the Argentine
international, Paulo Dybala, leveled the ball with his left
foot from close range after a cross pass by Sandro (67).
Sari made an offensive switch at the expense of the
defense by directing the Colombian international Juan
Cuadrado and pushing him with Higuain (68), then
Bernardeski replaced Rapio (78).
Dybala penetrated into the area and passed a ball on a
plate of gold to Higuain, who struck it next to the left
post (85).
Dybala scored a goal with a powerful shot that he left
from inside the area, but was canceled due to offside
(87), while Juventus players demanded a penalty kick
after Dybala was blocked inside the area by Guimaraes
without success (89).
