Brazilian Vinicius Jr., Real Madrid’s star, scored a goal
against Barcelona on Sunday evening at the Santiago
Bernabeu, in the round of the 26 La Liga games, to mark
a new history in the history of the El Clasico matches.
Vinicius became the youngest player to score a goal in
the El Clásico games, during the 21st century, stripping
the historical figure held by Barcelona legend Lionel
Messi 13 years ago.
Vinicius scored his goal at the age of 19 years, 7 months
and 18 days (19 years and 233 days), while Messi was
the youngest in the Classico during the 21st century, in
March 2007, at the age of 19 years and 259 days.
Real Madrid succeeded in grabbing the top of the
Spanish League again, after a 2-0 victory over its Catalan
rivals, and Real became at the top of the table with 56
points, one point ahead of Barcelona.
On the other hand, Argentine Lionel Messi, Barcelona
captain, scored his 43rd participation against Real
Madrid, becoming the most player in Barcelona’s history
to play in the Clasico match.
Messi outperformed former Barcelona star Xavi
Hernandez, the coach of the Qatari Dam, who
participated in 42 Classico matches.
Messi played 27 games against Real in the league, 8 in
the cup, 6 in the Spanish Super Cup, and 2 in the
Champions League.
Barcelona entered the match, beating Real Madrid by
two points in the League’s ranking, taking the lead with
55 points.
