“Apple” has agreed to pay about $ 500 million in
compensation, to settle lawsuits it accuses of deliberately
slowing some iPhone models, in a “scandal” that
affected the reputation of the American company.
And according to the British newspaper “The Guardian”,
the proposed preliminary settlement was revealed last
Friday, but it requires the final approval of the American
judge in California, Edward Davila.
According to the same source, the settlement requires
that Apple pay $ 25 per user who suffered from the
problem of slow phone calls, which Apple recently
admitted and said that slowing phones is necessary to
avoid stopping them from working with the updated
operating systems.
The US giant denies any wrongdoing, but has decided to
resolve the case nationwide to avoid further burdens after
the order caused it a crisis of confidence with customers,
as court papers in San Jose showed.
The settlement covers owners of “iPhone 6”, “6 Plus”,
“6S”, “6S Plus”, “7” and “7 Plus” in the United States, as
well as users of phones dependent on iOS 11.2 or
versions that came Then, until December 21, 2017.
The complainants were claiming that the performance of
their phones witnessed a clear slowdown, noting that the
matter was aimed at pushing them to buy new batteries
or replace their devices with new ones.
Apple then attributed the problem to several causes,
including temperature changes and overuse.
The complainants’ attorneys described the settlement as
“fair, reasonable and sufficient.”
