The Belgian League announced on Thursday a series of
precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the
Coruna virus, which has infected 50 people in the
country.
The association’s statement indicated that it was directed
to prevent the players from taking “selfies”, adding:
“Communication with the players is not desirable at this
time, so we appeal to the public not to request signatures,
shaking hands, personal photos or requesting the players’
shirts during this period.”
And the association considered that “the current situation
requires special attention and follow-up, but does not
necessarily mean entering into a state of panic,”
according to the Spanish newspaper “AS”.
Among the other precautionary measures adopted by the
association is that journalists will not interview athletes
unless there is at least one meter separated, in addition to
stressing the need to cover the mouth and nose when
coughing or sneezing, and washing hands constantly.
The association called on fans who feel ill not to go to
the football stadiums, while asking the players to avoid
“unnecessary direct communication whenever possible”,
and to prevent handshaking at the start and end of the
matches.
