Via MCVUK, analyst Piers Harding-Rolls, head of
research agency IHS Markit, confirmed that he believed
that the new generation Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X
devices would achieve a solid launch if they were not
affected by cargo production problems and the price was
not above $ 500:
Although there are many unknowns data about the new
generation devices, I expect a strong performance from
the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X devices if there
are no problems with the shipments and the price is
within the reasonable limit, $ 500 or less.
By strong performance, I mean both the PS5 and Xbox
Series X will be able to outpace the PS4 and Xbox One
launches, because the PS4 has a much larger active user
base than the PS3 had in 2013, putting Sony in a stronger
position with launch. I also expect Microsoft to have a
more impactful launch compared to Xbox One, and to
be in a better position to grab the attention of those early
acquisitions.
