Carlos Tevez scored a goal with a great shot, to guide
Boca Juniors the Argentinian league title, Saturday, as
they overcame 1-0 to Jimnasia and clinched the title of
the competition in the last round of the season.
River Plate was one point ahead of Bucca before the start
of the last round, and he would have secured the title if
he came out with victory, but he drew 1-1 away from
Atletico Tucuman.
At the same time Bucca needed to win at home to
Jimnasia and was waiting for River to falter.
Boca went out with the victory already required, to pass
his rivals thanks to a massive shot from Tevez from 20
meters, 18 minutes before the end.
Bucca won the league title for the third time in 4 years,
and River has been denied their first title in the
competition since 2014.
Boca retaliated for the defeat against River in the “Copa
Libertadores” final in 2018, as well as in the semi-finals
of the continental competition last year.
The result was a blow to coach Marcelo Gallardo, who
was a Yemeni who won the league for the first time.
