Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic has announced that he
used the same sports equipment as the basketball player
at the club, Tri-Thompkins, who found to be
infected with the new “Corona” virus.
The Royal Club announced earlier on Thursday that it
had sent all members of the football and basketball
teams to quarantine, at their homes, after a basketball
player found to be infected with the virus.
He said in a statement on his website: “Real Madrid
announces that the result of testing one of the club’s
basketball players was positive after examinations of
Covid 19 virus.”
He added: “Starting now, the club follows the
recommendations of imposing quarantine on basketball
and soccer teams, as the teams share training pitches.”
Immediately after the news announced, Jovic was
the first statement to the media, as the Spanish
newspaper “AS” quoted him as saying: “We went to the
exercises Thursday morning before the officials told us
that the training sessions canceled and that we
had to stay in our homes for two weeks.”
Jovic explained that he was sharing the same
accompanying Thumbkins in Valdebebas, saying:
“When I injured, I wasn’t training with the group,
but I used the same sports equipment as the player who
had a corona.”
The Serbian player continued: “I feel good. I have no
symptoms. We are awaiting club instructions.”
The announcement of Real Madrid caused the Spanish
League decision to postpone the next two rounds of the
competition at least, and its game with its host
Manchester City postponed in the second leg of the
Champions League round sixteen next Tuesday.
