English Premier League officials, the League and
the Professional Players Association, who are
trying to find solutions to resume local activity, are
preparing to make “tough decisions”, amid the
outbreak of the new Corona virus.
The three sides met, on Friday, to study the
financial implications after the suspension of
matches in the local leagues, while the country is
witnessing a state of complete closure.
The authorities issued a joint statement saying,
“Representatives of the English Premier League,
League and Professional Players Association met
today to discuss the increased risk of Covid-19
disease.”
“The three sides agreed that they must make
difficult decisions in order to alleviate the financial
implications of suspending the professional ball in
England, and agreed to work together to find
common solutions,” he added.
The three sides will meet again once next week, to
discuss further and come up with a unified plan.
English football officials had decided to extend the
suspension of local professional matches until next
April 30th, and the statement issued on Friday
added, “The leagues will not return until April
30th, at least. You will do so when conditions
permit and things are safe.”
The statement concluded, “We will hold additional
meetings next week in an attempt to present a joint
plan to meet the difficult conditions faced by the
leagues, clubs, players and fans.”
