In an unfortunate incident, Bernard Gonzalez, a doctor
from the French Premier League’s Rennes Football
Club, committed suicide at the age of 60, after
discovering he was infected with the new Corona virus,
several sources said .
“This day, doctor Bernard Gonzales is crying,” the club
said in a statement on its website, describing him as a
“all heroic stage” who spent more than two decades with
the city’s club in the northeast of the country.
The city’s mayor, Arnaud Robinet, told Agence France
Presse that he had informed earlier today of the news of
Gonzales’ “suicide”, noting that the late had left a
message in which he revealed that the result of the
examination of “Covid-19” that he underwent was
positive.
A medical source confirmed to France Press the
existence of this message, noting that Gonzales
“appeared to be in good health two days ago.”
“I was shocked and greatly affected by the news of his
departure because he was someone I knew for several
years (…). He was removed from his position as a doctor
for the Rennes Club, he was a doctor of many of the
city’s sons, and he knew his human and professional
qualities.”
He continued: “The football family, the children of
Rennes and everyone who knew him will miss him.”
Club president Jean-Pierre Caillou said that “this
pandemic (Corona virus) affects Rennes club in the
heart”, considering that Gonzales “was a person of
Rennes, and a great professional in sport is leaving us.”
