The American companies “Apple” and “Google”
announced unprecedented cooperation between them to
take advantage of smartphone technology to reduce the
outbreak of the new Coronavirus.
The British newspaper “The Guardian” said that the two
technology companies will work on developing a new
application to track the spread of “COVID 19” in
various countries of the world, working on “Android”
and “iPhone”.
She added that the application will rely on Bluetooth
technology to determine the distances between users
’phones anywhere.
She explained this by saying: “The application will be
able to track the movements of each user and know his
whereabouts and the people who were close to him.”
And she continued: “If this person is infected with the
emerging coronavirus, the application will work to alert
all the people the patient visited, to urge them to isolate
themselves or take the necessary tests.”
Similar applications have already been tried in several
countries, such as Singapore and China, but this type of
cooperation between Apple and Google has never
happened before.
In Europe, the Czech Republic says it will launch a
similar application this month, and Britain, Germany,
and Italy are also developing their tracking tools.
The applications presented previously face the problem
of “distrust” on the part of users due to privacy
considerations. In Singapore, for example, the
application uses only 12 percent of the population.
In this regard, Google said in a statement posted on its
website that privacy, transparency, and acceptance are
the most important criteria in the new application.
