Social divergence may have prevented players and club
officials from meeting in person, but Zenit Saint
Petersburg, the Russian Football League’s rival, came up
with a new idea when he brought up the Player of the
Month award by drone.
Brazilian Malcolm won about 30 percent of the fans
’votes to win the award for March after Zenit won the
top of the Russian League, 9 points behind its closest
pre-season stalkers due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Russia imposes public isolation measures until April 30,
while the domestic league competition has been
suspended until May 31, but the club managed to deliver
the award without leaving the former Barcelona winger
from his home.
“I just received a message asking me to open the
window,” Malcolm said in a video recorded while the
plane was flying outside his residence.
The drone entered the Malcolm apartment through the
window, terrifying a cat that was in the house, before
settling on the ground to pick up the prize.
Malcolm thanked the fans and finished the video, saying,
“Stay home, this is important.”
