In a statement that could cause concern for football clubs
in England, a prominent expert in the field of
epidemiology and infectious diseases stressed that it is
impossible for the fans to return to full play before nearly
18 months because of the pandemic of the emerging
Corona virus.
Zach Benny, an epidemiologist at Emory University in
Georgia, USA, said that this period may be short or a
little longer than a year and a half, stressing that
spectators should not be allowed to return to stadiums
before a successful vaccine is detected for the
Corona virus.
Zach told the British newspaper “Times”: “The more
people gather, the more dangerous things will be.
The presence of 5 people is more dangerous than the
presence of two people, 10 people gather worse than the
presence of 5, and the presence of 60 thousand people in
these circumstances will be disastrous.”
He continued: “Even if the risk of community infection is
low, the presence of a small number of people infected
with Covid 19 disease is sufficient to transfer the
corona virus to thousands in the stadiums.”
Although the remainder of the Premier League matches
for this season will be held behind closed doors in the
event of the resumption of the “Premier League”, what
concerns the clubs is the next season in the event that it is
decided to hold its matches without spectators on the
stands, as this will inflict heavy financial losses on them
