The German government has agreed to the League
Football Association to resume matches without an
audience starting in mid-May, after stopping about
two months ago due to the emerging Corona virus.
“The Bundesliga can resume in the second half of
May while respecting the health rules that have been
agreed upon,” German Chancellor Angela Merkel said,
following a meeting with the 16 provincial officials.
The decision came after German teams resumed training
since mid-April, under strict rules for social separation.
This also comes after the German Professional
Association (DFB) announced that 1724 players in
36 clubs of the first and second different grades of
Corona virus tested, and that 10 players
infected with the virus.
With this, Germany will become the first among the five
major European championships, to resume the game’s
competitions that stalled since mid-March due
to the COVID-19 epidemic.
