Barcelona defender Gerard Pique and Real Madrid’s
Danny Carvajal, criticized the decision of the Spanish
government to return to the Football League
competitions as a hasty decision in the midst of the
Corona virus epidemic in the country.
The criticism came during a virtual video meeting that
brought together a number of Spanish league clubs with
the President of the Supreme Sports Council, Irene
Lothano, Minister of Health Salvador Ella, and director
of the Center for Health Warning and Emergencies
Fernando Simon.
The meeting was also attended by Pique and Carvajal,
from Asier Iyaramendi from Real Sociedad, and Koki
Ryserksen from Atletico Madrid.
Pique warned during the meeting that the return of “La
Liga” increases the possibility of infection with the
Corona virus, according to the radio station “Catalonia”.
Carvajal, Resorxen and Iramandi have joined in to
support Pique’s view of the government’s decision,
the Spanish newspaper “AS” reported.
The disclosure of these fears on the part of the players
reflects the way most players feel in the Spanish League,
despite the teams returning to team training in
preparation for the resumption of the season.
On the other hand, the Spanish Sports Minister, Irene
Lothano, confirmed that the resumption of “La Liga”
competitions will be without the attendance of the fans,
although the regions that entered the third stage of easing
the restrictions may allow the establishment of matches
with the attendance of the fans.
The Spanish government gave the green light late last
month for the return of football league competitions
starting next week, after being suspended for more than
two months due to the spread of Covid-19 disease in
the country.
The “League” League hopes to end the season by late
July, which will also allow the clubs to avoid the huge
financial losses resulting from the loss of television
broadcasting revenues.
And stopped the “La Liga” Spanish after the twenty-
seventh stage out of 38, with the champion of the past
two seasons Barcelona led the ranking, just two points
behind his historical rivals Real Madrid.
The Spanish League will be the second of the five largest
competitions in Europe to resume its activity after the
epidemic caused the suspension of most sports
competitions around the world since last March, after the
return of the German League earlier this month.
