Spanish club president Real Sociedad has expressed his
confidence that the young Norwegian superstar Martin
Odegaard will remain in his team’s ranks, instead of returning
to Real Madrid next season.
“I think Odegaard will stay on our team. This is what I believe
in and what we hope for,” the Spanish newspaper “AS” quoted
Basque club president Jokin Aberebay as saying.
“Anyone who wants to continue with Real Sociedad must be
convinced of that, and when Odegaard came to us, he was sure
that he had chosen the best decision, and also would take
the same decision for the next season,” he said.
He concluded by saying, “The decision is up to him, and
I firmly believe that he will stay.”
Odegaard, 21, plays with Sociedad on loan for one renewable
season. He scored 7 goals during this season and made 8 more
during 28 games of the Spanish League, before he stopped
due to the pandemic of the emerging Corona virus.
The Norwegian star moved to the Royal Club in January 2015,
was registered with the reserve team “Real Madrid Castilla”,
but he trained mainly with the first team.
On May 23, 2015, he became the youngest player to represent
Real Madrid, but in January 2017 he was loaned to the Dutch
club Herenveen for 18 months.
In August 2018, he was loaned again to another club in
the Netherlands, Vitesse Arnhem, before his last stop in
July 2019, when he was seconded to Real Sociedad.
