Manchester United and England national football striker
Marcus Rashford urged the government to support his
campaign to provide free meals to children during
the period of public isolation and school closures.
Rushford, 22, played a prominent role during the
Covid-19 epidemic in raising awareness and supporting
families struggling to provide food for children.
Rashford teamed up with the British fair share charity
to help increase support to 20 million pounds
($ 25 million) to provide meals inside the country.
“In the family we depended on breakfast in clubs, free
school meals, neighbors’ initiatives and coaches,” he
wrote on Twitter.
1.3 million children benefit from free meals in England’s
schools, but Rushford said that a quarter of the number
had received no support since the schools closed due to
the epidemic.
He continued: “Do you know how courageous it requires
a mature man to say that he cannot cope with the
requirements of his family and cannot support them?
Men, women and childcare need our help and we do not
listen to them.”
