Zoom, the video communication services company, said
on Wednesday that it intends to encrypt video calls from
one party to another with all its free and paid services to
users and to launch a beta version next July.
The company stressed that it is keen to prevent misuse,
as it will allow this feature for users who provide only
a reliable phone number.
The California-based company initially intended to boost
encryption for customers who pay for its services only.
The company attracted millions of customers who pay
or not, during the outbreak of the Corona virus, which
forced people to work from home, but it faced criticism
for privacy and security issues.
Zoom has also been criticized for not disclosing that its
services are not fully encrypted from end to end.
Taiwan and Germany imposed restrictions on the use
of Zoom, while “SpaceX” company owner Elon Musk
banned the application due to security concerns.
