Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp said he prefers to play
Manchester City in the Premier League next week at Etihad
and not be moved to a neutral stadium due to the emerging
Corona virus crisis.
And Liverpool, who may clinch its first league title in 30 years
against City, will meet on Thursday, next Thursday, a decision
on the match’s pitch from a safety advisory group.
“In all honesty it is best to set up in Manchester, otherwise it
will be very difficult to organize it,” Klopp told reporters before
his team’s League match against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
The authorities may transfer the match to a neutral stadium
because of fears that Liverpool fans will gather outside
the stadium to celebrate the title, if their team beat City.
The German coach added: “I don’t know what it will be like,
but the match will not take place in Liverpool and this means
that the two teams will go somewhere where they both need
a hotel. This is the only problem.”
He added: “Away from that we will play anywhere they send us,
but I prefer to hold the match in Manchester. I will wait until the
final confirmation, whether it is in Manchester or not. It will be
a challenge for the two clubs.”
