The French Football Association has confirmed that the new
season will kick off at the penultimate weekend of August
and end on May 23, 2021.
The Association endorsed, during a meeting of its Board of
Directors, the calendar for the next season, which delayed
for several weeks compared to previous years, due to
the extension of the current season 2019-2020, including
the final matches of the French Cup and the League Cup due to
the new Corona virus.
The final match of the French Cup competition will hold on
July 24 at the Stade de France between Paris Saint-Germain and
Saint-Etienne, and the League Cup on 31 of it on the same pitch
between Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon.
The 2020-2021 season closes with the last 38th stage on May
23, less than 3 weeks before the start of the European Cup (June
11 – July 11), which in turn postponed for a year because
of “Covid-19”.
The League will approve new matches programming for
the next season so that each stage starts on Friday evening with
one match (21:00 local time), followed by two matches on
Saturday (17:00 and 21:00 respectively), to conclude on
Sunday with most matches, one At 13:00 and 4 matches
at 15:00 and one at 17:00 and another at 21:00.
The playoff role is to hold in order to avoid relegation
between the eighteenth-ranked first-class league and the second-
division playoffs champion on May 27-30.
The winter hiatus will be short due to the narrow calendar
between December 23 and January 6, during which the
32-round matches of the French Cup competition held
during the weekend of January 3rd.
The deadline for the French Cup competition set for April
24, 2021, as announced by the French Federation for the game
today.
In turn, the second division championship begins on August
22nd and ends on May 15th.
