Real Madrid, La Liga leaders, suffered a setback 3 games before
the end of the season, with its left back, Marcelo, injured in
the muscle near his left thigh, the club reported on Friday.
A brief statement to the Royal Club stated that Marcelo, 32,
“injured in the left inner muscle and his recovery will
continue,” without mentioning the period in which he will be
absent from the stadiums.
However, the Spanish newspaper “S” reported that the Brazilian
international “will be absent between two and three weeks.
He will return to the Champions League,” which will complete
his competitions on August 7th.
Real Madrid, who are seeking only a second title in LaLiga in
8 years and the first since 2017, topped the rankings, 4 points
behind arch-rivals Barcelona, the last two seasons, after
defeating Deportivo Alaves at the end of stage 35.
Marcelo did not participate in the group exercises, on Thursday,
on the eve of the meeting of Alaves, and the French coach
Zinedine Zidane had previously stated that his defender was
suffering “from a slight injury and I hope it is only a minor injury.”
Marcelo is absent from Alaves, and expected to be absent
from the matches of Granada Villarreal and Leganes, where he
expected to be replaced by Frenchman Verlan Mende,
who participated mainly in several matches this season.
He returns to face Manchester City in the second leg of
the Champions League final on August 7, noting that the
