Real Madrid took another step towards winning their first
La Liga title in 3 years by defeating Alaves 2-0 on
Friday, despite the absence of a number of prominent players
to win the eighth game in a row.
Real Madrid missed 3 of their most prominent defenders,
captain Sergio Ramos, Danny Carbajal for suspension and
Marcelo for injury, but he started the game comfortably thanks
to a goal from Karim Benzema 11 minutes into the game.
This is the third consecutive match in which Real Madrid
opened the penalty kick before he won the victory when
Benzema passed the ball to Marco Asensio to put it in
the empty net at the beginning of the second half.
Real Madrid raised its score to 80 points and regained the
four-point difference with second-placed Barcelona,
3 rounds before the end.
