5 years after his departure from Real Madrid, legendary
goalkeeper Iker Casillas returns to the Royal Club, but far from
the green rectangle.
According to the Spanish sports newspaper, Marca, Casillas will
work as an adviser and assistant to club president Florentino
Perez, whom he wants near him.
This is Casillas, 39, his first job after retiring from football.
The newspaper said the tasks assigned to Casillas, who guarded
the Real Madrid den between 1999 and 2015, will be further
defined in the next few weeks.
The French star Zinedine Zidane had previously held
the position of advisor to the club’s president, before he
switched to training to lead the team to 3 Champions League
crowns and two Spanish League titles.
Casillas practically retired in May 2019, after suffering a heart
attack during a training tour in the Portuguese club Porto he
was playing for.
“Marca” said that the Real Madrid president knows that Casillas
is “one of the main assets of the club, and he is also a leading
figure, and Bizes wants to integrate him into his management
team.”
