French magazine “France Football” suddenly announced, on
Monday, that the 2020 Golden Ball Award, which dedicated
to the best soccer player in the world, will not award due to
the conditions imposed by the new Corona virus.
“For exceptional circumstances, exceptional arrangements.
For the first time in its history, which started in 1956, the France
Football Golden Globe Award 2020 will not award, in
the absence of adequate appropriate conditions,” the French
magazine declared in a statement posted on its website.
The experts considered that the Polish striker Robert
Lewandowski was the biggest loser of the decision to cancel
the award, because of his remarkable brilliance this season.
The Bayern Munich striker was the leading candidate for
the award, especially if he help his team get the Champions
League which will complete in August.
No football stars have emerged this season, such as Argentine
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, highlighting Lewandowski
as a strong contender for the award.
Lewandowski scored 51 in 43 matches so far in the season,
the highest score in Europe, by a large margin from the other scorers.
The Polish striker also tops the Champions League scorers list
with 11 goals, and aspires to achieve the championship title with
his strong German team for the title.
