Brazilian star Ronaldo, the former Barcelona, Real Madrid and
Milan striker, believes that the departure of Lionel Messi from
Barcelona will be difficult at the present time for several reasons.
According to what the Spanish newspaper AS quoted from
the superstar dubbed the phenomenon, “letting Messi go is not
the ideal solution” for the Blaugrana.
Rumors circulated for months about the intention of the
Argentine “flea” to leave Barcelona after 19 years he spent
at Camp Nou since his arrival from Argentina
Then those rumors increased strongly with the end of a
disastrous season for the Catalan giants, during which he lost
a lot by losing the league title and bidding farewell to the
Champions League after a humiliating 2-8 loss to Bayern
Munich in the quarter-finals.
Despite the dismissal of coach Kiki Setien, who never won the
admiration or confidence of Messi, and the appointment of the
Dutchman Ronald Koeman as his successor, the reports about
the departure of the Argentine star did not end or weaken.
But Ronaldo, who currently heads Spanish club Valladolid,
believes that “the possibility of Messi leaving Barcelona is
weak at the present time, especially as the team is going
through a results crisis.”
Ronaldo confirmed that Messi “is an icon of the team, and if I
am in the place of Barcelona officials, I will not let him go
anyway. He has a strong relationship with the club, and I do not
think that his love for the club will end,” according to what AS reported.
And he continued: “The situation has worsened in Barcelona
due to the loss of the Champions League … but Messi needs the
help of his colleagues as it happens, and Barcelona should think differently.”
Ronaldo concluded his “expectations”, saying: “Leaving
the main and most important player in the team to go, is not
the solution for Barcelona.”
