Chelsea, a club in the English Premier League, has announced a
five-year contract with promising German attacking midfielder
Kay Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen.
The club did not disclose details of the player’s contract, but
British media reported that Chelsea had paid nearly 71 million
pounds ($ 94.34 million) for the 21-year-old’s services.
Havertz left the German national team camp to complete a
medical examination before signing for the London club.
“I am not happy and I feel very proud to join Chelsea. It is a
dream that has come true to play for a big team like Chelsea
and I am waiting on my heart to meet my teammates and the
coaching staff,” Havertz said in a statement.
Havertz had two years left in his contract with Leverkusen,
scoring 46 goals and 31 assists in 150 appearances for the club.
