The English club, Manchester City, announced, on Monday, that
its international players had been infected with the new Corona
virus, Algerian striker Riyad Mahrez and French defender
Emeric La Porte.
In a statement, City confirmed that the players are isolating
themselves according to the rules of the English Premier
League and the British government.
The club said: “Neither of them showed symptoms of the virus,”
adding: “Everyone in the club wishes Riyadh and Aimeric a
speedy recovery before they return to training and the new season.”
Mehrez thanked the fans who sent him messages of support on
“Twitter”, and wrote in his official account: “I am fine.
Beware all and take care of yourselves.”
Laporte followed the example of his colleague minutes later,
and wrote: “Thank you all for your letters. Everything is going
as well as possible. I follow the health protocol in the next few
days and I will return soon. Take care of yourselves.”
Manchester City’s first league match will be against Wolverhampton
on September 21.
