The Champions League draw, Thursday evening, resulted in
an upcoming confrontation between stars Lionel Messi and
Cristiano Ronaldo, in the group stage.
And the draw was drawn to Juventus, led by Ronaldo, and
Barcelona, led by Messi, in one group, which means that the
football fans will witness two confrontations between the two
most prominent stars in the world of football, with a home-and-
away system, perhaps for the last time historically.
Some predicted that Messi and Ronaldo’s next confrontations in
October and November will be the last of the two giants in the
world of football, due to their old age and playing in different
local leagues.
The confrontation between Ronaldo and Messi was one of the basic
elements of the football season, when Ronaldo was a player for
Real Madrid, during the annual “El Clasico” in the Spanish League.
But since Ronaldo’s departure to Juventus in the summer of
2018, the two stars have not met in football stadiums, and with
Ronaldo at the age of 35 and Messi at the age of 33, the results
of their fluctuating teams in the Champions League kept them
away from a European confrontation in the tournament.
They were drawn for this season of the championship together
in Group G, which means two guaranteed confrontations, in
Barcelona and Turin, between Ronaldo and Messi, which may
be the last, before they retire from football.
