After a fatal mistake in the backline, Barcelona drew 1-1 with
host Deportivo Alaves in the Spanish League, on Saturday,
despite the Catalan team playing with an increase in numbers
in the last half hour.
Barcelona trailed with a goal in the 31st minute after a joint
mistake between Brazilian goalkeeper Neto and his colleague
Gerard Pique, where the first failed to deal with a pass from a
short distance from the second, and passed between his feet to
score Luis Rioja in the empty goal.
Alaves midfielder Jota was sent off in the 62nd minute for
receiving a second yellow card, and Antoine Griezmann leveled
soon after.
Barcelona did not take advantage of several opportunities to
snatch the victory away from Earth.
Barcelona, who lost 1-3 to Real Madrid last week, have only
scored two points from their last 4 league matches, and coach
Ronald Koeman’s team is 12th with 8 points from 6 games.
