Real Sociedad continued its amazing performance, crushing
hosts Celta Figo 4-1, on Sunday, to regain the top of the Spanish
league with its fourth consecutive victory in the tournament.
David Silva scored his first goal for Sociedad in the middle of
the first half, and shortly thereafter Spain’s Mikel Uiarzabal
bolstered the lead as he continued his rebound from the post.
Willian Jose made it 3-0 in the second half, when he converted
Christian Porto’s cross into the net.
Iago Aspas reduced the deficit to struggling Celta Vigo with a
penalty kick, but Jose settled the big win for Sociedad to ease
the pain of the defeat by Napoli in the European League, last Thursday.
Sociedad raised its tally to 17 points from 8 games, one point
ahead of Real Madrid, who played 7 games.
And the team from the Basque Country increased its goal tally
to 18 goals, including 14 in the last 4 matches.
In contrast, Celta scored 6 points in 17th place.
