Barcelona demanded its former star Neymar to refund the 10
million euros that the Brazilian striker had “wrongly” charged
while defending the colors of the Catalan team.
El Mundo Deportivo newspaper said, “Barcelona administration
believes it has made a wrong calculation regarding the tax count
that Neymar has to pay, and accordingly it granted him an
additional $ 10 million by mistake.”
After 4 seasons spent at the “Camp Nou”, Neymar left for Paris
Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017 for 222 million euros, in
the biggest deal in football so far.
The mentioned amount is not the only dispute between Neymar
and Barcelona, as the club won a lawsuit against the player
months ago regarding bonuses, after which Neymar was forced
to pay 6.7 million euros to Barcelona.
Barcelona is currently suffering an unprecedented financial
crisis, with which it was forced to enter into difficult negotiations
with the stars of the team to deduct part of their wages, up to 30%.
The debt of the Catalan club has more than doubled in one year,
from 217 million euros in June 2019 to 488 million in the same
month of this year.
