Zlatan Ibrahimović scored twice as leaders Milan beat Napoli,
who ended the match with ten men, and claimed their first
victory in the hospitality of their rivals in the Italian Serie A
in more than ten years.
The 39-year-old veteran striker scored the first goal with a
powerful header in the first half before adding the second after
the break to take his tally to ten goals in six matches this season.
Dries Mertens narrowed the gap for Napoli to regain hope, but
his colleague Timo Bakayoko, the midfielder, made a violent
foul to receive a second yellow card and leave the field 25
minutes before the end.
Substitute Jens Hauge scored the third goal in stoppage time.
Ibrahimović’s health arose after he was released with a muscle
problem 11 minutes before the end, and the Swedish player sat
on the bench and put an ice pack on his hamstrings.
Milan maintained their record unbeaten and kept the top of the
league with 20 points, two points behind second-placed Sassuolo,
and six points behind sixth-placed Napoli.
This match ended a series of 11 consecutive matches for Milan
at the hospitality of Napoli without a victory, and the team
achieved its second victory there in the league in the 21st
century, while the other victory came with a score of 2-1 in
October 2010 in a match that saw Ibrahimovic score during his
first term at the club.
