Jürgen Klopp, the coach of Liverpool, the England champion,
expressed his frustration over the effects of Britain’s exit from
the European Union (Brexit) on transfer deals, in light of the
implementation of new regulations starting next year.
Premier League clubs will not allow contracting with
European Union players without a work permit, while foreign
players under the age of 18 will not contract in accordance
with post-Brexit regulations.
“So far I am waiting for the first advantage of Brexit from
the European Union. What has actually improved after Brexit?”
And the German coach continued: “Certainly I am not qualified
to judge these matters, but as a person I am interested,
I am waiting for the first positive effect to come out.”
Klopp pointed out that football officials did everything possible
to mitigate the effects of the exit on their field, stressing that
“the results would have been worse had these officials not acted.”
