Real Madrid, the Spanish champions, is close to signing Bayern Munich and Austria star David Alaba
in July, according to Spanish press reports.
The sports newspaper “Marca” reported that Bayern Munich gave its defender the green light to negotiate
with other clubs, with only 6 months remaining until the left-handed player’s contract with his club ends.
Renewal negotiations between the European champion and Alaba, 28, reached a dead end, after the player
demanded a weekly salary of 200,000 euros.
According to Marca, the royal club offered Alaba an annual salary of 10 million euros, in a contract that
extends to 4 seasons.
The newspaper reported that Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane blesses the deal, as Alaba is considered
a distinguished player due to his ability to play in several positions, including the center of defense, the left
side and the center of the field.
According to the “Transfer Market”, which specializes in evaluating players, the market value of Alaba reaches
65 million euros, but he will most likely leave at the end of his contract at the Bavarian club.
Although he was primarily a defender, Alaba was not sent off throughout his career and received only
17 yellow cards, making him the newest “cleanest” player in Europe.
The Austrian international played 404 matches with Bayern, during which he scored 39 goals and made
49 goals since his move to the German giants in 2010, and contributed to his team’s crowning of
the German League 9 times, and the European Champions League twice, most recently last summer.
