Barcelona beat bottom-of-the-table Huesca 1-0 thanks to a goal by Frenkie de Jong by Lionel Messi
in the Argentine star’s 500th game with the club in the Spanish Premier League.
Dutch midfielder De Jong met a pass from Messi and scored from close range in the 27th minute to give
Barcelona the well-deserved lead after a strong start.
But coach Ronald Koeman’s side failed to seize many opportunities and in the end had to struggle to keep
the three points.
Huesca was able to equalize in the second half after a cross inside Barcelona reached striker Raphael Mir,
but he hit it with a weak heel, to be saved by goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Barcelona scored 28 points from 16 games and advanced to fifth place, ten points behind leaders Atlético Madrid,
who played 15 games and won 2-1 against Alaves today.
