Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp revealed that he was not surprised by the success of Mohamed Salah in
becoming the first player in the club to score at least 20 goals in four different seasons since legendary
Ian Rush did after he scored two goals during the 3-1 victory over West Ham United, Sunday.
Salah raised his score to 21 goals in all competitions this season, and Klopp confirmed that the Egyptian
player has a tremendous desire to score goals.
“I am not surprised,” Klopp told reporters. “I work on a daily basis with him and he will never stop having
a tremendous desire to score goals,” according to “Reuters”.
Salah scored the first goal with a perfect left-foot shot in the 57th minute, to score for the first time in
the Premier League since December 19, and end his fast of scoring for six games in this competition.
Salah added the second goal after he grabbed a long pass and paved himself with great skill, then shot from
close range.
Klopp said, “He is a high-quality player and there is no doubt about that.”
He continued, “I said in the last few weeks when we did not score many goals, that the only thing that can
be done is to try and try again. Good decisions or better decisions must be made.”
The German coach added, “The first goal came from a clever shot, and in recent weeks he tried to shoot from
between the feet of the opponents, and this time he succeeded in shooting a powerful ball in the top corner.
An excellent goal.”
Rush scored 20 goals or more in six seasons from 1981 to 1987.
Liverpool is third, four points behind leaders Manchester City, and host Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday.
