“Sky Sports” reported that Liverpool had reached an agreement to sign Preston North End defender Ben Davis,
who belongs to the English Premier League, with several back-line players injured.
The report said Liverpool would pay Preston nearly 2 million pounds ($ 2.74 million) for the 25-year-old, whose
contract expires in June. The deal is expected to close on the last day of the transfer window today, Monday.
Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg will move to Preston on loan until the end of this season.
Liverpool misses defending duo Virgil van Dyck and Joe Gomez for a long time and suffered a fresh blow-by
Joel Matip in his ankle ligaments during the 3-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur last week.
Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp was forced to involve the midfielders Fabinho and Jordan Henderson in the center
of defense in many games this season, in addition to relying on some young players.
Liverpool fielded Henderson and fellow 23-year-old Nathaniel Phillips as central defenders in their 3-1 win over
West Ham United on Sunday, to advance to third place and before they host Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday.
