The Brazilian sporting director of Paris Saint-Germain, the French football champion, Leonardo,
was dismissed from his position, Saturday, after the match against Metz (5-0) in the last stage,
according to a source familiar with the file, confirming a news published by several media outlets.
The dismissal of Leonardo, 52, from his assignment in 2019, came a few hours after the capital club
extended the contract of its star Kylian Mbappe until 2025.
No sooner had the Parisian team’s celebrations of its tenth league title ended than the media published
“Amazon Prime Video”, “RMC”, “France Bleu Paris”, “Le Parisien” and “L’Equipe” Paris Saint-Germain’s
decision to abandon one of its main men.
The Paris club, headed by Qatari Nasser Al-Khelaifi, confirmed, after extending his contract to his star in
the medium term, that he will make many changes for a new life for his sports project.
It is the second time that Leonardo dismissed from his position in Paris Saint-Germain after
his first term, which lasted between 2011 and 2013.
Leonardo defended the colors of Paris Saint-Germain between 1996 and 1997.
Leonardo threatened with dismissal several weeks ago, similar to the Argentine coach, Mauricio Pochettino,
who may face the same fate soon, although his contract expires in 2023.
Leonardo contributed greatly to the inclusion of Argentine star Lionel Messi last summer, but his aura
suffered from a disappointing season for the Parisians, who knocked out of the Champions League
final price at the hands of Real Madrid.
Several media outlets indicated that he is likely to succeed by the Portuguese Luis Campos,
who worked in Lille and Monaco, where he joined Mbappe when the latter was defending the colors of
