Neymar’s first response to “rumors of his departure” from Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar believes that he is “staying” in his team, amid speculation from
the French press about the future of the Brazilian international and the Paris club’s desire for his departure.
“At the moment, I haven’t heard anything, but from my side, the truth is that I’m staying,” Neymar said
in an interview with Oh My Goal in the Qatari capital, Doha, where one of his sponsors organized a futsal
tournament bearing his name. “This is correct”.
Neymar, who scored his 100th goal in the colors of Paris Saint-Germain in the last stage of the French League,
last Saturday, against Metz (5-0), added that he had not heard rumors of his possible departure from the club.
And he wrote on his Twitter account on Sunday: “The dream continues and we will return next season with
strength to fight again (for our goals).”
The 30-year-old Brazilian extended his contract last year until 2025, but several question marks arise after
another disappointing season, spoiled by the injury he suffered.
And the sports daily L’Equipe claimed in its Wednesday edition that Paris Saint-Germain “will not oppose
Neymar’s departure.”
Paris Saint-Germain, who is restructuring its ranks, wonders about the place that will be given to “Ni”, after
he succeeded in extending until 2025 his international star Kilian Mbappe, who became the basis of
the sports project.
And Mbappe contract extension mixed the cards in the capital club, which seems ready this summer to start
again in a new era by changing the sporting director with the departure of the Brazilian Leonardo and perhaps
the Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino.
The place that will be given to the Brazilian next season will have to be known by the new sports administration,
which could be led by Portuguese Luis Campos, according to several media outlets.
