Real Madrid crowned their wonderful season by clinching the Champions League against Liverpool,
by defeating them with a clean goal in Paris, on Saturday.
The only goal of the match scored by Vinicius Junior, unmarked, in the 57th minute, taking advantage
of the cross of his colleague Federico Valverde and the inattention of the Liverpool defense line.
Although Liverpool controlled most of the meeting, it failed to translate its technical superiority into a victory
thanks to the brilliance of Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who saved several goals.
The Spanish League champion strengthened its position as the team that won the most European Champions
League, raising its tally to 14 championships.
On the other hand, Liverpool’s hopes dealt another blow, as the team lost the European title days after
losing the English Premier League to Manchester City in the last round.
Liverpool players competed to waste opportunities, until the punishment came in the 57th minute through
Vinicius’ goal.
Valverde penetrated from the right side and sent a cross to find the unattended Brazilian in front of the empty net,
to shoot easily into the goal and score the only goal of the meeting.
Real Madrid repeated their victory over Liverpool in the European Final, as happened in 2018, when the royal
team excelled 3-1.
