Spanish playmaker Juan Mata has become the latest name to be confirmed in the list of players
leaving Manchester United this summer.
And a report by the British newspaper “The Independent” indicated that 6 players could leave
Manchester United “for free” in free transfer deals this summer:
Juan Mata

Juan Mata
The “Red Devils” announced, Thursday, the departure of Spanish playmaker Mata from his ranks,
after 8 years spent at Old Trafford.
“Mata will leave the club at the end of his contract this summer,” a statement on the club’s website read.
Mata joined United in the 2014 transfer window from Chelsea, when the London club was led by
Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho.
The Spanish international, under the supervision of Dutch coach Louis van Gaal, won the FA Cup in
the 2015-2016 season, and with Mourinho in Manchester United he won the Charity Shield 2016 titles,
the League Cup and the European League “European League” in 2017, the last two titles he won.
The 34-year-old played 285 matches for the London team, during which he scored 51 goals.
Mata had previously won with Chelsea the European Champions League title in 2012, in addition to
the domestic cup titles, the Europa League and the Club World Cup.
With the Spanish national team, he won the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Cup.
Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba
French midfielder Pogba will also leave Manchester United, when his contract expires at the end
of this month, according to the Premier League club’s announcement.
The French national team player returned to the English club from Juventus in 2016, in what was then
the most expensive transfer for a football player, amid huge aspirations, but he failed to provide steady
levels at Old Trafford.
“The club can announce the departure of Paul Pogba at the end of June once his contract expires,
” Manchester United said in a statement.
He added, “The French player has a long relationship with United and joined the club’s academy
from Le Havre when he was only 16 years old.”
It has not yet been revealed whether Pogba has contracted with any other clubs as a free agent,
but previous rumors stated that he would return to Juventus, which was denied by the Italian club.
Jesse Lingard

Jesse Lingard
After a career that lasted for 20 years, United announced the departure of Lingard from the club after
the end of his contract on June 30.
“Lingard was a key player in Warren Joyce’s FA Youth Cup winning squad in 2011,” the team said in a statement.
Lingard scored six goals in 40 games in all competitions during the 2015/16 season, including the overtime
winning goal at Wembley against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup Final.
Edinson Cavani

Edinson Cavani
Uruguay striker Cavani joined United in October 2020 with a free transfer deal from Paris Saint-Germain.
The player’s first season witnessed a good performance, as he scored 17 goals in 39 matches, while he scored
only two goals in 20 matches last season.
