He ignites speculation .. Ronaldo did not join Man United training
Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo has raised speculation about his continuation with
his Manchester United team after he missed the team’s training in preparation for the new football season.
His absence from Manchester United training came a few days after reports that Ronaldo
had informed Old Trafford management of his desire to leave this summer.
According to English press reports, the 37-year-old has been absent for family reasons,
and that he will return to training under the leadership of Dutchman Eric Ten Hag in
the next few days.
Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has postponed his training with the Red Devils
in preparation for the new season, according to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”.
Several press reports recently claimed that Ronaldo informed his club of his desire to leave
this summer, which Man United rejects, especially since he is still under contract.
And according to the British newspaper, “The Sun”, the “Don” informed Manchester United
to postpone his return to training for family reasons, and the English club accepted this justification.
And the SportsMail reported on Sunday that Ronaldo will hold talks with Erik ten Hag upon
his return as he looks to a solution over his future.
Although “Ronaldo still has a penchant for the club”, at this point in his career he wants to play
in the Champions League, and he does not see that happening in the Red Devils.
It is noteworthy that Ronaldo played 19 consecutive seasons in the Champions League,
becoming the tournament’s top scorer with 141 goals, and no player in history has appeared
in Champions League matches more than Ronaldo.
United thought of getting rid of him
Despite reports that Ronaldo had informed the club’s management of his desire to leave,
reports on Monday claimed that it was United who considered letting Ronaldo go earlier this year.
According to The Athletic, former interim manager Ralph Rangnick wanted to sell Ronaldo
during the January transfer window, as the striker was holding back what he was trying to
implement at the club.
Rangnick reportedly asked director of football John Murtaugh and chief executive Richard Arnold,
via several emails, that he considered selling the Portuguese star because he was convinced
the number 7 was not part of the club’s long-term plans.
However, despite his pleas, the German coach’s request was refused.
Reports, over the weekend, also claimed that Man United warned Ronaldo that he must attend
the club’s tour before the start of the season, even if he ends up leaving.
Ten Hag will lead his team first in a friendly match against rivals Liverpool in Bangkok before
traveling to Melbourne to face Crystal Palace, and later Perth to face Aston Villa.
