The summer nightmare continues.. Atlético fans “unite” against Ronaldo deal
The summer has gone “from bad to worse” for Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo,
after Atlético de Madrid supporters launched a campaign on Twitter calling for
their club not to sign the Manchester United star.
Recently, news spread about the desire of the 37-year-old Portuguese star to move
to Atletico Madrid and participate with the team in the Champions League.
Ronaldo has so far failed to achieve his demands, and move from Manchester United
to a club participating in the European Champions League, after several clubs announced
their unwillingness to sign with him, led by Bayern Munich.
After negotiations with Bayern Munich, Chelsea and other top European clubs failed,
Ronaldo was dealt a new “blow” by Atletico Madrid fans, who took to Twitter to
announce their opposition to the idea of transferring their former “enemy” and
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo to the team.
Using the hashtag ‘Contra CR7’ or ‘Against CR7’ on Twitter, fans have tweeted
exciting things like threatening to cancel their membership with the club if they
sign the former Real Madrid player.
“If this (Ronaldo) comes to Atletico, I will unsubscribe,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“We are not a scum-collecting haven.”
Another wrote: “At the club, we will never put brand, image or economic gain
before sport or social image. I am against Ronaldo.”
The hashtag “Against Ronaldo” spread like wildfire, leading the global tweets.
