Mane will not have mercy on Liverpool if he meets in the Champions League
Senegalese international Sadio Mane has expressed his support
for his new team Bayern Munich to beat his former club Liverpool
if the two European giants meet in the Champions League later this year.
Although Sadio Mane looks fondly on his time at Liverpool, he insists
he will show no mercy to his former club if they meet in the Champions
League this year.
When asked if his goal against Bayern Munich in 2019 was his all-time favourite,
Mane joked that it was before he joined his current team, insisting that
Bayern Munich will beat Liverpool the next time they meet.
Mane was part of the Liverpool side that surpassed Bayern in the Champions League
last 16 in 2019, but insists the German side will win next time.
It is noteworthy that Mane ended his 6-year stay in Liverpool after signing
a 3-year contract with a salary of up to 250 thousand pounds per week at
the Allianz Arena in June.
Speaking in the official Bundesliga newsletter, Mane said: “I said maybe he
is my favourite, but now I will say my second favorite goal, not the first,
because the Bayern goalkeeper is now my teammate.”
He added: “No.. No, I’m joking.. Of course, I think it was a good goal, sort of.
It was a good game. We played a good game. It is in the past now. If we meet again,
of course we will beat Liverpool as Bayern Munich.” “.
Mane, who arrived at Anfield from Southampton in 2016 for 34 million pounds,
played his last game for the Reds in the Champions League final, which they
lost to Real Madrid.
Mane hinted before that match in Paris that his future may be far from Anfield,
then confirmed his intention to leave less than 24 hours after the final whistle
for that match, which Real Madrid won with a free goal.
Fans were disappointed to hear of the departure of the 30-year-old, who was
pivotal to Jurgen Klopp’s success with Liverpool.
Mane will be looking to recreate the same success at Bayern Munich and has
no intention of letting Liverpool stand in his way.
Mane scored 10 goals in 10 matches when he found a goal against Bayern Munich in 2019.
Striker Rafinha rushed the ball to the edge of the German club’s penalty area,
and made an amazing first touch to put it exactly where he wanted, as goalkeeper
Manuel Neuer came out of the goal area, while Mane calmly diverted the ball
and shot it into the net to help Liverpool win by 3 -1.
It seems that this goal will not be forgotten by Mane anytime soon, but he will
look to do his best against Liverpool next season if they are drawn together.
Mane went on to discuss his ambitions in Bayern, saying: “I don’t think it’s easy
to win the Champions League. I want to be more clear if I play with Bayern Munich,
I came here to win all the games possible.. Of course, to win all the trophies.
Of course, before the start of The season, our goal is to win all the titles possible.
I’m here to help my team-mates and achieve our dreams.”
