Ancelotti: Casemiro sticks to Manchester United
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said today, Friday, that Brazilian player
Casemiro wants to leave the Royal Club in order to join Manchester United.
“Casimiro wants to take on a new challenge and we understand his feeling.
I don’t think he will give up this desire,” the veteran Italian coach added,
in a press conference, today, Friday.
And Ancelotti added, “I spoke to him. But because of the character and status
of Casemiro and what he has done for the club, we have to respect that desire.
Talks are going on at the moment. Nothing has been officially done yet.
He is still a player in our team but he wants to leave.”
Ancelotti indicated that Casemiro wants to experience a “new challenge” in his career.
He added, “I and the management understand this. With everything he did
with the team and given his personality, we have to respect that.. If negotiations
continue, it is natural that he will not play” against Celta Vigo, according to AFP.
Reuters believes that the 30-year-old Brazilian midfielder Casemiro will link
to the Red Devils with a contract for a period of 4 or 5 years, while his annual
salary will amount to about 16.1 million dollars.
Casemiro, who has won the Champions League five times, and has been a pillar
of the Brazil national team in recent years, is expected to undergo a medical
at the end of the week.
British media reports said that Manchester United offered to acquire Casemiro’s
services for about 70 million euros.
The “Red Devils” team is still trying to strengthen its ranks, especially in the front,
and newspapers talked about the possibility of including Belgian Yannick Carrasco
from Atletico Madrid, Dutch winger Cody Gakbo from PSV Eindhoven or Brazilian
winger Anthony from Ajax, with the possibility of contracting a striker.
