French striker Osman Dembele left his team’s Barcelona training on Monday, amid fears that his recovery from a previous thigh muscle injury would suffer a new setback.
Barcelona said in a statement on its website: “During the training session for this morning (Monday), Osman Dembele felt some discomfort in his right leg as a result of muscle fatigue (…) He will continue the rehabilitation process.”
Dembele has not played for Barcelona since November 27, and his return was expected this month.
The 22-year-old has suffered a series of injuries since moving to Camp Nou from Germany’s Borussia Dortmund in 2017, and he has only played nine games this season and scored one goal.
The Catalan club did not specify the period of his absence from the stadiums, but there is doubt about his participation in the match against Napoli, Italy, in the final price of the Champions League on the 25th of this month and then in El Clásico on the first of next March.
