On Thursday, Facebook Inc. postponed the launch of its dating app in Europe after the sector’s Irish regulator, the Social Network headquarters in Dublin recently searched.
A spokesman for Facebook said that the delay in launching the dating application in Europe came after the Irish data protection committee inspected its main office in the capital Dublin last Monday and collected documents from the headquarters.
A spokesman for the American giant group added: “We will take longer to ensure the product is ready for the European market,” according to Agence France-Presse.
Facebook seeks to ensure that its new application does not cause any problem with the processing of personal data.
For his part, a spokesman for the Irish data protection committee told France Press that it was the first raid of its kind for the headquarters of a technology company since the European Union in May 2018 approved the general system of data protection.
The Irish committee stated that it had received a call from Facebook regarding its project to implement dating for the first time on the third of February, adding: “We were very concerned that Facebook was going to us for the first time in this regard, as it was seeking to launch the application on February 13.”
It is noteworthy that the launch date of the proposed Facebook dating app falls on the eve of Valentine’s Day or Valentine’s Day. Facebook was gradually launching a dating application on the American continent and in Southeast Asia in 2019.
